Ah, December!

At last-and last in the year-one of my favorite months, December! Time for all those great Christmas songs on the piano, carols on the radio, and specials on TV!

This is a very busy time for everyone--even me! The Christmas shoppers are snagging my paintings, jewelry, and scuptures--making this old starving artist a very happy camper!

Just in case you haven't seen it--check out my Etsy shop for my best creations! http://www.DoreenBatesart.etsy.com

Wishing you all a VERY merry Christmas and the best New Year!

November in Nevertime

So, what does November mean to you? Besides Thanksgiving or the month before Christmas--a time of falling leaves, falling rain (or snow, depending on where you live)...a year that is quickly passing..a time for family and friends--or a mighty lonesome time if you don't have any....

I always wish, this time of year, that I could make time stand still--or better yet, revert to a permanent October here in Tennessee! But, seeing as how I haven't managed to acquire that kind of power--I just seem to roll helplessly along, watching the days grow ever shorter, the weather grow nastier, and the whole approaching holiday thing loom ever larger.

It seems easier, this time of year, to fall into a deep dark dpression--the gloomy days just set you up for it! So let's all just skip November this year--wake me up in December, please!

October in Oz

Hi there! Well, I've decided I'm spending the month of October in Oz...yes, as in the land of Oz! I'm devoting this month (and however long it takes) to creating an Oz series of paintings...what do you plan to spend October doing?

It's a Small World After All

Ah, the wonders of cyberspace! Just met the most fascinating person who lives in London(yes, as in England). Who of us baby boomers would've ever thought we'd be able to "chat" with people across the world? Well, if you are reading this, you're probably just as much a dreamer as I am--so you will adore this lady's website--check it out! www.dreamyourlife-liveyourdream.co.uk

Anybody out there?

Good afternoon! I have a feeling I just might be talking to myself...but they say most people do, right? Anyway---I'm new to computers, new to blogging, new to Etsy...I'm a professional artist struggling to make ends meet in a rural area...if you like the unique, odd, beautiful, or funny in art, jewelry, and sculpture---you just might be interested in my work...

art for everyone

Hello, out there! I've only recently joined the computer age, so please bear with me! Living in a rural, economically depressed area has inspired me to start blogging..the world needs as much beauty and as many smiles as it can get...it has occurred to me recently that we could use a new revolution in art in this country--let's take art out of the hands of the rich and elite, and instead make it affordable for all! (AND understandable, hopefully). As a working artist and art instructor, I'll be offering thoughts, ideas, tips, and how-to's on a variety of subjects...stay tuned!
